Katogi Averof Hotel and Winery is located in the green area of Metsovo in the Epirus region of Northern Greece. It is a pioneer of Greek wine tourism situated in a magical natural landscape.
Katogi Averof Hotel and Winery is surrounded by trees and vineyards. Visitors can enjoy atmospheric audio-visual-enhanced tours of the wine cellars learning about the history of the winery and the wine-making process. Of course there is ample opportunity for wine tasting. Other attractions include walks around the vineyards, forest or surrounding hills. A stay at the hotel is a unique experience. In a walking distance there are mini markets, traditional restaurants and cozy cafes.

The hotel’s fifteen luxuriously appointed rooms enjoy views of the winery and of Metsovo’s magnificent scenery. The architecture and interior design exudes discreet luxury and a contemporary aesthetic which nonetheless captures many traditional local features. Dining in the hotel restaurant is an integral part of the Katogi Averoff hotel experience. The staff serves traditional dishes with locally-sourced ingredients cooked to centuries-old recipes and customs. Of particular note are the local cheeses Metsovone and Metsovela which pair perfectly with the native wines. The hotel restaurant offers exquisite culinary experiences based on local cuisine, showcasing locally sourced ingredients and enhancing the wine enjoyment by proposing expert pairings with Katogi wines. The menu is designed by Michelin star chef Nikos Karathanos. The restaurant operates from Thursday to Sunday, 8am to 11pm by reservation only. The Wine Bar is also the perfect place to enjoy the homemade wine.
Recreation
Katogi Averoff Hotel offers a winery. The oldest parts of the winery date back to 1973 when work began on a new building required to cover the company’s ever-increasing production needs. Today after eight separate extensions and renovations the winery is equipped with all the modern facilities for producing and bottling premium wine. The cellars boast over 1200 oak barrels in which the red wines mature while the winery boutique offers rare and collectible wines for sale. A tour of the winery includes multimedia guidance introducing the visitor to wine production and the history of the winery. A tour is rounded off with tastings of a selection of Katogi Averoff wines.
